Additionally, about $400 was given for Start-up and Administration.
It is important to note that the Herd Charity has been run by many volunteers over the years. When one person steps away (due to other time commitments), then someone else always seems to step forward!
All prizes are donated, all cash brought in from each raffle is given directly to the non-profit org. (Only exception was that some supplies and the shipping of the beautiful quilt Alaska Jenn made out of Donna the Buffalo shirts for the Shakori raffle.)
Also, we raised $470 for Herd members in great need, but that wasn't official, since it was not given to a registered non-profit organization.
From time to time, we collect items needed for various organizations, such as the YWCA THP, clothing for the kids in Cozumel, toys for The Drop-In Center and Brother Wease, and school supplies for Zion. There have been press releases published in newspapers for some of these projects, which certainly helped local folks think positively about Donna the Buffalo, the Herd and the festival or show venue.
